Why’s it called a Caesar salad??

In partnership with

Morning Caesars!

Okay so this is what a Caesar salad looks like today:

This is what they’re meant to look like..

Oh and it has nothing to do with Julius Caesar.

And it was invented in Mexico.

The year is 1924:

We’ve got all these Americans putzing around because booze is prohibited..

So they flee to Tijuana to keep partying!

Now in Tijuana, there’s only like one spot in town.

Hotel Caesar:

And Hotel Caesar’s got the only restaurant in town.

Caesar’s Place cafe franco-italiano restaurant:

But if we go inside…

It’s bumpin!

But sitting wayyyyyy in the back,

Is the Italian owner, Caesar Cardini.

Just a bit of a problem..

Caesar’s restaurant is out of food lol.

So Caesar takes the scraps left over and starts assembling something at the tables!

Romaine, eggs, stale bread, olive oil:

Little parmesan

And lemon!

BANG… the Caesar salad was born!

Stay Cute,
