How Does Ozempic Work? 💉
Morning Weightwatchers!
You may have heard about this new diabetes drug thing all the rich and famous are injecting themselves with…
Ozempic.
I mean just look at this.
Before Ozempic:
Nice, nice.
But…after Ozempic:
…
You get the point.
So, it's supposed to be used to treat diabetes.
But a bunch of celebs started using it as a miracle weight loss drug.
And… it obviously works.
But how? How does Ozempic make you lose weight?
Let's have a look shall we?
So, here’s Durd:
Now, let's give him something to eat.
When food enters your stomach and begins to work its way into the intestines…
Your body releases a little hormone guy called GLP-1. (let's call him Glippy)
Now, Glippy does 3 things:
Firstly he goes to your pancreas and tells it to produce more insulin to increase blood sugar levels.
(This is important for Diabetics, as they struggle to regulate their blood sugar levels)
Alright, secondly, he goes to your stomach and tells it to slow down a bit.
So you stay fuller for longer.
And, thirdly, he heads all the way up to your head and lets your brain know that you ain’t hungry right now.
So, what Ozempic does is basically just mimics Glippy.
When you stab yourself with the needle it pumps you full of some stuff called Semaglutide.
Which does basically exactly what Glippy does, it tells your:
Pancreas:
Stomach:
Brain:
Then you just gotta deal with the side effects.
Including, but not limited to:
Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Constipation, Pancreatitis, Kidney problems, Gallbladder problems, and even Depression…
Yeah… maybe not lol!
