How They REALLY Built the Pyramids
Morning Giza!

Here's a fun little fact for ya:
The Great Pyramid of Giza was completed around 4500 years ago.
And it stood as THE #1 TALLEST man-made structure for the next 3800 YEARS…

That's freakin insane!
And even then, it was only overtaken by some random church in England with a tall spire that blew over in the wind a couple of centuries later.

This gives you an idea of just how absolutely MAHOOSIVE the pyramids really were.
(Especially for their time)
So… how did they build them?
Was it aliens?

Probably not.
There's debate about what actually went down, but here's what most likely happened:
First, you need the workers, like 25,000 of them.

But these workers weren't slaves like many people think, they were actually very respected and skilled craftsmen…
Just had to clear that up.
Ok, next you need a couple of stones…

2.3 MILLION to be precise!
Each weighing about 80 tons.

Jeez…
Now, to complete this pyramid, in the 20 years it took, one of these blocks of stone would have to be quarried:

Transported:

And pushed into place:

Every 3 MINUTES, 365 days a year!!!
WTF???
How did they do this?
Well, probably using a LOT of these things:

GIANT, 9-meter-long wooden sleds that they would drag across the sand to transport stones from nearby-ish quarries.

And… that's about all we know for sure.
Regarding how they actually got those blocks from the ground to being perfectly placed on the pyramid…
That's a trickier question.

Not to mention the complex array of tunnels and burial chambers inside the pyramid…
However, most experts agree that they did it using… ramps!
Yeah, really…
They would have had to have a ramp going ALL the way around the pyramid like this:

So that they could very slowly drag those limestone blocks to where they needed to be.

Lastly, the pyramids were covered in white limestone, and the tippy top was laced with a metal alloy called electrum, which is a mix between gold and silver.
So it would have looked something like this:

Pretty dang cool…
