America’s Secret Plan to Conquer the Moon

Morning Lunatics!

So, lemme set the scene…

The year is 1957.

The US and Soviet Russia are currently head-to-head in… a space race!

But then the Soviets successfully launched the Sputnik satellite into space.

Putting Soviet Russia securely in the top spot when it came to space-faring.

This REALLY pissed off the United States…

So, a little while later, in 1959, the US army responded… with this:

Project Horizon!

A complex and detailed plan on how to create and defend a base… on the moon.

Ya really, they actually did this.

It includes everything from:

Dimensions of subterranean living quarters.

Earth-moon transport schemes.

Rocket specifications.

Literally everything you can think of…

It's pretty crazy.

But how do they plan to defend this moon base once built?

This is where it gets tricky.

See, Earth-weapons designed for our gravity and atmosphere don't really work on the moon…

If you shot a gun on the moon, it would probably do this:

Oh yeah, the pin firing mechanism might just not work sometimes cause of the moon's very weak gravity.

But let's say you could fire it…

Ya, the recoil would probably just fling you backwards lol.

Ok so, what's their idea for a moon weapon?

Simple, take a bomb, and put it on a stick.

Like this:

Think about it, all you gotta do is bounce up to someone…

And then… poke

And look at that, you win!

Unfortunately, this whole moon-conquering idea never actually happened.

It simply would have been too damn expensive.

And anyway, the project literally became impossible in 1967 when the US signed something called: “The outer space treaty”.

This officially banned any military operations on the moon and other celestial bodies.

Oh well, maybe another time…
